FREMONT – Ross’ girls golf team hadn’t played in a week and it showed Thursday night.

With their last event more than a week ago, the Lady Giants needed most of their round Thursday to get back into the swing of things as they shot a team score of 279. Their opponents, Lake and Oak Harbor, shot 209 and 211, respectively.

“They came out of the gate pretty rough,” coach Nicole Kulasa said. “We were supposed to play earlier in the week and we didn’t and we didn’t have much practice this week. Once they got going, their last couple holes were much better. We just need nine more holes.

“We had to shake off a little rust.”

Shelby Level shot a team-low 65 while Mekhia Williams had 70 and Grace Britt shot 71 and Sarah Widman had a 73.

“We’re still a young team and golf is not a game you can just become good at in a day,” Kulasa said. “It’s going to take time and it’s going to take practice and that’s what they’re doing.”
