FREMONT – How much impact could a chilly night spent on the court have on a tennis team two days later? Apparently enough to spark them to the program’s first-ever win against a league power.

Ross’ 3-2 win over St. Ursula Tuesday night began Sunday night. That’s when center court at the Ross tennis complex became slumber party central.

The Lady Giants threw themselves a team-building night over the Labor Day weekend, spending Sunday night on the tennis court, playing games, laughing, and bonding as a team.

“Oh my goodness, it was so much fun,” junior Berlin Swaisgood said. “I’m glad we did it. I hope it’s something we continue to do every year. It was so much fun.”

While coach Lisa Wolfe wasn’t initially thrilled at the prospect of spending a night on the court said she was talked into it by her seniors.

“This is something the girls wanted to do, from the very first meeting we had this season a few of the girls approached me with this idea,” Wolfe said.

While Wolfe is blessed with a team where everyone gets along without any drama or jealousy, the girls found new ways to learn about one another and grow closer.

“It brought us together,” senior Natalie Brown said. “I think we know each other well but it brought us together even more, we learned more about each other.”

Hard to argue with the results.
