BOWLING GREEN – One wrong step cast a pall on Ross’ girls golf team’s round Wednesday.

Sarah Widman

Late in her round, sophomore Sarah Widman stepped into a hole on the course and suffered an ankle injury, forcing her to to withdraw from the TRAC championship.

“The hole was covered in grass and she stepped in it, she either rolled her ankle or broke her ankle,” coach Nicole Kulasa said.

Because Ross’ four-person roster matches the minimum required to register a team score, the Lady Giants could not score a total for the team competition.

The three who finished the event were Shelby Level, who shot 126, Grace Britt, 136, and Mekhia Williams, who was one shot behind, at 137.

“It was super-hot today but they came out ready to play,” Kulasa said. “They tried the best and that’s what matters, they didn’t give up, even when they knew Sarah was done, they still played. They still tried for that individual score.”

St. Ursula won the TRAC championship with a team score of 308.
