BOWLING GREEN – The season is over but the Ross boys golf team is already looking ahead.
The Little Giants shot a team score of 408 Tuesday at in the Division I sectional tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Club. The score is a 26-stroke improvement in just two weeks when the same four Little Giants shot 434 in the TRAC Championship.
“I really believe we’ve improved dramatically,” coach Jim Scharer said. “I think the kids had fun, they enjoyed it. I think they’re going to be disappointed they’re not practicing tomorrow, which is always good. You don’t want to be happy the season is ending and I don’t think the kids are happy the season is ending.”
Cole Druckenmiller, who Scharer said “played very, very well,” led Ross with a 92. Zane Rousch and Braxton White shot scores of 103 and 104, respectively, and Owen Smith turned in a 109.
“The thing I think is really cool is they’re already talking about next year and how they want to be in the low-380s and mid-370s, which is where I want to be next year and I honestly think we can come in a little better than that,” Scharer said. “I think Cole can consistently be in the 80s next year, for sure. I think Braxton can get down and I think Zane can get down.”
