FREMONT – With one of their biggest meets of this season coming up this weekend, Ross’ swim teams wanted to get a few things accomplished in their duel meet against Oak Harbor Wednesday night: Give rest to those who needed it, avoid injury and get ready for Saturday.

MaKennah Fitzgerald
The Little Giants did that and still won handily, as the girls defeated Oak Harbor 135-45 while the boys won 133-47.
“The girls swimming this weekend all swam off-events, some only swam one event,” girls coach Tina Moses said. “There were just a handful of girls I swam in two events, only because I have some sickness and had to fill my lineup.
“Going into this meet, it’s a very low-stress meet,” Moses added. “Oak Harbor was at the invite we had on Saturday (the Northwest Ohio Classic) and I knew I didn’t have to stress a lot of those swimmers out that are going to Ned Reeb this weekend. They didn’t have to swim their No. 1-A event to win tonight.”
Even in events they don’t normally compete in, the Lady Giants had a handful of nice performances.
MaKennah Fitzgerald clocked a time of 5:41.38 in the 500 freestyle, coming in second in the event was Sophia Biggins in 6:15.12.
“That was a great swim for (Fitzgerald) in the 500, that’s an excellent time,” Moses said. “Sophia Biggins also had a great swim in the 500.”
Also, AnneMarie Moses finished first in both the 100 freestyle (57.63) and the 100 breaststroke (1:12.19).

“1:12 is an excellent time in the breaststroke for her because she isn’t usually one of my breaststrokers,” Tina Moses said. “I have three breaststrokers going down to Ned Reeb and she’s not one of them. That’s not one of the events she usually swims anymore and 112 is a great swim.”
Other Lady Giant event wins included Shelby Level in the 200 individual medley, in 2:26.91, and Mara Brown had the highest score in 1-meter diving (155.40).
The Lady Giants will take 12 swimmers to the Ned Reeb on Saturday – the highest number of swimmers to qualify in Moses’ tenure.
“Typically, it’s about eight,” Moses said. “It’s a big group this year.”
The boys team was just as dominant against Oak Harbor Wednesday.
The Little Giants swept the 200 medley, and 200 and 400 freestyle relays as Connor Colston, Andrew Evans, Tate Williams, Ethan Taylor, Noah Detrich, Braedyn Price and Noah Hotz all swam at least one leg on one or more of the relays.
Taylor win the 200 freestyle in 1:57.17 while Williams was first in the 200 individual medley (2:13.00).
Evans won the 100 butterfly (54.81), Dyland Weisenauer won the 100 freestyle (50.75) and Case Stevenson won the 500 freestyle (5:30.70).
Dane Michael won the 1-meter diving with a score of 157.20.
Editor’s Note: Due to family obligations, the results of Saturday’s Ned Reeb Invite likely will not appear online until Sunday. Thank you for understanding.
