FREMONT – Hosting cross-town rival, St. Joseph Central Catholic, the Little Giant tennis team got its groove back.
One day after its five-match winning streak was snapped by St. John’s, Ross started a new win streak, taking a 3-2 victory over the Crimson Streaks.
Alex Thatcher picked up the Little Giants’ lone win in singles, shutting out Jordan Smith 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
The Little Giants needed to sweep the doubles matches and the team of Trevor Weickert/Sam Long and Lucas Cronin/Ethan Moyer delivers.
Weickert and Long won at No.1 by a 6-1, 6-1 score while Cronin/Moyer won 6-0, 6-0.
The victory raises Ross’ record to 6-2 overall. The Little Giants’ double tournament at Norwalk Saturday has been cancelled due to a rainy forecast. Ross has a full slate of matches next week, beginning on Monday when the Little Giants host Northview.
