FINDLAY – Day 1 of the TRAC championship track and field meet is complete and Fremont Ross is off to a solid start.

High jumper Olivia DeRodes picked up Ross’ first league title of the meet Wednesday with a height of 5-feet, 1-inch in the high jump.
Three events were completed in the girls competition while the boys completed four.
Shot putters Emma Jahns (third) and Olivia Baptista (seventh) had throws of 33-11 and 31-10.5, respectively, each scoring points for the Lady Giants, whose 24.5 points has given them the early advantage, though Whitmer is just one point behind.
The 4×800 relay team of Ashanti Elkins, McKela Elder, Hayley Wilson and Mara Brown took sixth with a time of 10:38.10.
The boys, on the other hand, finished second in the 4×800 as Evan Starkweather, Ethan McClory, Matt Kuyken and Jayden Scott clocked a time of 8:28.62.
Mike Thomas placed third in the discus throw (130-02) while Calvin Beckley came in sixth with a distance of 126-04.
The Little Giants also place two in the pole vault as Keaton Jordan cleared 12-6 and Isaac Smith reached 11-6.
Ross is second through four events with a total of 25 points. Whitmer leads with 46.
The TRAC meet will conclude Saturday at Findlay.
