SANDUSKY – The soccer season officially got underway Monday and Fremont Ross’ team had an up-and-down start to the season.

The boys went to Sandusky Perkins and came home with a 3-1 victory.

Dylan Brady scored twice while Chris Navarro put one in the net as well.

“(We) improved throughout and defense played a solid game,” boys coach Alex Coressel said.

The Lady Giants, however, were not as fortunate. Ross generated some offense but failed to score in a 2-0 loss to the Pirates.

“It was a good match,” girls coach Phil Collison said. “Defensively, we held. We created some good opportunities up top. (We were) just unable to finish.”

Both teams return to action Wednesday with their home-openers, against Port Clinton. The girls kick things off at 4:30 and the boys at 6 p.m.
