TOLEDO – The Lady Giant tennis team closed out the regular season’s TRAC duel matches Tuesday night, traveling to Toledo Central Catholic. There, the Lady Giant saw first-hand why the Irish are undefeated in the league this season.

Central Catholic won all but one flight, handing Ross a 4-1 defeat.
The Lady Giants’ lone bright spot came from the No. 2 doubles team of Sophia Biggins and Berlin Swaisgood who won their match, 6-0, 7-5.
“(They) did a nice job keeping their composure when they fell behind in the second set,” said Ross coach Lisa Wolfe.
Ross’ singles players all lost in straight sets by 0-6, 0-6 scores while the No. 1 doubles team of Gillian Gallagher and Lily Abdoo got off to a slow start in an 0-6, 4-6 defeat.
“(I was) hoping for both doubles to win, it just didn’t happen,” Wolfe said. “First doubles started off very slow – waited too long to start moving their feet and making good shots.”
The Lady Giants return to the court Wednesday when they host Sandusky and then they’ll play in the TRAC tournament Friday and Saturday at Oregon Clay. The doubles teams will each enter their brackets with 4-1 records in TRAC regular season matches. Vivyanna Esquivell enters at No. 3 singles with a 2-3 record while Lillie Swinehart and Emma Jahns each carry a 1-4 record at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively.
