SANDUSKY – The Ross swim teams kicked off their 2018-19 seasons Tuesday in dominant fashion.
The Lady Giants won all but one event in a 122-48 dual match win over Sandusky. The boys team was nearly just as strong, as the Little Giants topped the Blue Streaks 115-54.
“Teams got off to a good start,” coach Phil Moran said. “AnneMarie Moses’ 100 fly and Connor Colston’s 200 IM were standout swims for the first meet.”

Olivia DeRodes

AnneMarie Moses
Moses won both the 100 butterfly (with a time of 1:00.91) as well as the 50 freestyle (25.88 seconds) and took part in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays, combining with Olivia DeRodes and Alexis Prenzlin with MaKennah Fitzgerald in the medley and Faith Zimmerman in the freestyle.
DeRodes won both the 200 and 500 freestyles while Prenzlin won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Fitzgerald won the 100 backstroke.
As for the boys, Colston had a busy night, winning the 100 backstroke in 1:01.70 and the 200 IM in 2:12.06. He also swam legs in the 200 medley, along with Case Stevenson, Dylan Weisenauer and Ethan Taylor, and the 400 freestyle alongside James Elder, Andy Burroughs and Taylor.
Weisenauer also won both of his individual events, the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while also swimming the first leg of the 200 freestyle relay along with Braedyn Price, Stevenson and James Elder

Connor Colston
Logan Kropp rounded out the Little Giants’ first-place finished with a win in the 100 freestyle.
Quality times were not limited to just those who finished first in their event.
“A lot of our younger swimmers had new PR’s,” Moran said. “Zach Edmonds, Cole Dymond, Jake Biggins and Zach McNutt for the boys and McKela Elder, Azlin Rich, Allison Taylor, Alyssa Batey for the girls. Brand new swimmers looked very good for their first meet and now have set some time standards to break.”
The swim teams will get back in the pool Saturday as they travel to Sandusky Perkins for the Swimming at NWOAC Relays, starting at 9 a.m.
“Overall, the older swimmers are probably feeling a little sore right now with the extended weight-room workouts, but those will pay off in the end,” Moran said.
