BOWLING GREEN – The Fremont Ross track and field teams returned home from the Bowling Green Bobcat Invitational with quite a lot of individual and team hardware. But they also left something behind as well: Their names all over the meet’s record book.
The Little Giant boys team won its eight-team competition with 128.5 points, 36.5 points ahead of second-place Defiance. The girls team also won its meet, with a 54-point cushion over its nearest competitor, while also breaking four meet records and tying a fifth.
McKela Elder
Junior McKela Elder broke two meet record by herself. She won the 800 run with a time of 2:21.13, more than three seconds faster than had ever been run before at the meet. She then turned in a time of 5:20.19 in the 1600, nearly five full seconds than the previous record.
The 4×100 relay team of Nadia Kirksey, Briana Morrisette, Jazzele Lindsey and Jadyn Rozzell clocked a time of 50.88, 0.80 second ahead of the previous record.
The 4×200 relay of Kimora Rapp, Ashanti Elkins, Morrisette and Lindsey then ran a time of 1:47.04, nearly two second ahead of the previous-record pace.
In the pole vault, senior AnneMarie Moses matched the height of her own meet record, set last season, clearing 11-feet, 6 inches.
Other first-place finishes for the Lady Giants came from Morrisette in the 100, Lindsey in the 200 and Kimora Rapp in the 400.
Lindsey also won the long jump competition and Sarah Watson took first-place in the high jump.
Bryce McKinstry
As for the boys team, Bryce McKinstry won three events. He took first-place in the high jump and 400 dash and ran a leg of the top-finishing 4×400 relay, along with Jonathan Martin, Ivan Starkwrather and Ka’Von Martin.
Starkweather also placed first in the 200 and Jason Burling finished first in the shot put.
