TOLEDO – The Little Giant golf team enters the 2019 season as a young squad, but a promising one, if its first two outings of the year are any indication.
Ross opened the season with back-to-back victories over both Maumee and Springfield.
The Little Giants, with a lineup of four freshmen and two sophomores, topped the Panthers and Blue Devils by shooting a team score of 416 at Maumee Bay State Park Golf Course on Monday. Freshman John Mapus led the way with a medal-winning round of 98.
Tuesday, Ross again defeated Maumee and Springfield, this time by shooting 10 fewer shots, totaling a score of 406 at Heatherdowns Golf Club.
Sophomore Gabe Ontiveros and freshman Mason Durnwald led the way for the Little Giants, shooting scores of 97 and 98, respectively.
Ross is back in action Friday morning at Sycamore Hills for the Lakota Invite.
