FREMONT – For the second time in three days, the Lady Giant tennis team picked up a win.
Ross defeated cross-town rival St. Joseph Central Catholic Wednesday, 3-2.
Alexis Huff and Lucy Miller won at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, while the No. 1 doubles team of Shae Smith and Trinity Smith had to work overtime to pull out its match-clinching victory, winning 6-2, 6-6 (8-6).
“No. 1 doubles worked together to pull of that second set tiebreaker,” Ross coach Lisa Wolfe said. “And Vivyanna (Esquivel), at 1 singles, played a good match despite the loss on her court.”
The victory lifts Ross’ overall record to 3-9. The Lady Giants travel to Clay on Thursday.
