FREMONT – It hasn’t been the easiest season for the Fremont Ross girls tennis team, but the Lady Giants haven’t stopped putting in the work.
The Lady Giants were rewarded for their resiliency Wednesday afternoon when they took a 4-1 victory over Maumee.
“The girls are working hard on their tennis skills in practices,” coach Lisa Wolfe said. “I’m happy for them when they can produce a win.”
Playing in the lineup they’ll use for the sectional tournament, the Lady Giants swept the singles flights. Vivyanna Esquivel (6-2, 6-1) won at No. 1 singles while Alexis Huff (6-2, 6-1) and Lucy Miller (6-0, 6-0) won at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.
Trinity Smith and Brynn Ruppert picked up a victory at No. 2 doubles by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
The win lifts Ross’ overall record to 4-11.
Ross will take part in the two-day TRAC tournament, hosted by Oregon Clay, on Friday and Saturday.
