The Lady Giants softball team take their talents to Ashland this afternoon for a Division I sectional game. The Ladies go into the game as underdogs as the Ashland team is riding an eight-game win streak.
The Lady Arrows (16-4, 11-0) won their first OCC league title since 2014. The Lady Giants will be up against players like Ashley Lang who has committed to play softball at Ohio State. Lang plays catcher for the Lady Arrows. Another Arrow to watch is freshman Makaree Chapman. Chapman will probably get the call against Ross this afternoon as their top pitcher, Brandilyn Reymer pitched the Lady Arrows to their Tuesday versus four-time defending champ Mount Vernon to a 7-3 win.
The Lady Giants (5-14, 2-9) are coming off an exciting win versus Woodmore when Jakaia Harper-Horn slammed a walk-off hit to lead Ross to the 4-3 victory in nine innings. “Harper-Horn and Peyton Fawley are leading the team offensively and defensively, coach Megan Rahe said. “Jakaia with the game winning walk-off single on Monday. The girls have been working hard and are prepared to take on Ashland today,” Rahe added. “Today’s winner will come down to who can handle the heat better. I am confident in our girls and the talent that we have, Rahe concluded.
Best of luck LADY GIANTS! Play like LITTLE GIANTS today!!
