The 2022 edition of the Fremont Ross golfers came away with a sixth-place finish at the 17-team “Panther Invite” tournament at Heatherdowns Country Club Tuesday to start their season in a successful way.
The team’s total score of 334 was a score that coach Jim Scharer had not seen in quite a long time. “The kids, as a whole shot the ball extremely well today”, Scharer said. “It has been 10 seasons since we hit a total of 334.” Will Stotz led the team with a career-best round of 78.
John Mapus fired a round of 43 and 41 for a round of 84. Fremont’s third man, Max Kelly also shot a consistent round of 42-43 for an 85. The last scored that counted for the Giants was from Robert Rich who came through with a 45-42 for an 87.
Also golfing for Ross was Zane Zender and Parker Brown. Zender fired a round of 54-57 111 and Brown finished with a round of 109.
The Little Giants are right back at Heatherdowns on Friday as they will compete in the “Knights Invite.”
