COLUMBUS – Unfortunately for Fremont Ross sophomore Jaiden Long, her tournament ended the same way it began. Long faced Kaylee Ramsey a senior from Clinton-Massie who brought with her a 36-5 record as compared to Long’s 33-10 mark.
Ramsey won the first go around with a pin at the 2:43 mark. After that defeat, Long went on to the first consolation round where she was a winner over junior Brooklyn Madal of Normandy, who brought with her a 42-8 record, with a score of 7-4. Long kept rolling into the second consolation round when she pinned junior Sarah Sphon of Minerva (35-11) with 4:35 gone in the match.
Moving onto the third consolation round, Long was pitted against Hallie Winslow, a sophomore out of Elgin. Winslow’s record coming into state was 25-3. Long gave her a good match but fell 13-3. With the loss Long was moved to a match for seventh place in the 120 lbs. weight class.
Back came Ramsey to wrestle Long for seventh place and with-it All-Ohio recognition and a place on the podium. Ramsey was just too much for Fremont’s young sophomore and pinned Long for a second time. This time the match ended in 2:25.
Congratulations to Jaiden Long for representing Fremont Ross in fine fashion with an 8th place finish. Also, congratulations to the other three ladies who showed well including Keyonna Vann, Malaya Hughes, Emma Gutierrez.
