The Little Giants boys’ soccer team kicked off their season in style, overcoming a slow start to secure a commanding 7-0 victory over Sandusky on Friday night. Despite a sluggish first half, the team found their rhythm after the break, with an explosive offensive performance that saw them find the back of the net six times.
Gabe Wensinger opened the scoring for the Little Giants with a well-placed strike that eluded the Bluestreak goalkeeper, giving the home team a 1-0 lead. The goal, which came after a period of sustained pressure, was the only one of the first half, sending the Little Giants into the intermission with a slender advantage.
The second half was a different story entirely. The Little Giants came out with renewed energy and quickly took control of the game. Logan Tucker doubled the lead early in the half, setting the tone for what was to come. Logan Wensinger, Gabe’s brother, added a third goal, showing the family’s knack for finding the net.
Alberto Martinez and Carson Lewis both added to the scoreline with well-taken goals, further extending the lead. The onslaught continued with Jeffrey Cung capping off the scoring spree, as the Little Giants showcased their attacking depth and creativity.
On the defensive side, goalkeepers Cole Kinsey and Adriel Benavidez combined efforts to keep a clean sheet, ensuring that Sandusky never had a chance to get back into the game.
With this impressive victory, the Little Giants have set the tone for their season and will be looking to carry this momentum forward. They return to action on Tuesday when they open Northern Lakes League play at home against Sylvania Southview.
