In a night filled with emotion as Napoleon honored their seniors, the Wildcats rode that inspiration to a commanding 8-2 victory over the visiting Lady Giants. The Wildcats struck early, capitalizing on a miscue by the Lady Giants’ defense that failed to clear the ball, setting the tone for the match.

Despite some early chances, the Lady Giants couldn’t convert, and found themselves down 2-0 at halftime. Determined to claw back into the game, the Lady Giants came out of the break with renewed urgency. Their offense relentlessly pushed forward, creating multiple scoring opportunities, but Napoleon’s senior goalkeeper was a wall, stopping every attempt.

As the Lady Giants grew more aggressive in their efforts to close the gap, the defense became stretched, allowing Napoleon to extend their lead to 4-0. However, the Lady Giants continued to fight. In the 73rd minute, Aly Rozzel found the back of the net, providing a glimmer of hope for the team. Unfortunately, that hope was quickly dashed as Napoleon responded with a breakaway goal, keeping the lead at four.

With time winding down, senior Maylin DeWalt struck a stunning goal from 18 yards out, cutting the deficit to 5-2. But as the Lady Giants rotated in younger players for some valuable game experience, the Wildcats seized the opportunity, scoring three more times before the final whistle.

Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Lady Giants showed heart and determination throughout. They will look to regroup and bounce back as they host Springfield on Wednesday.
