On a crisp October morning, the Fremont Little Giants showcased their speed and endurance at the Northern Lakes League (NLL) Championships, held at Walsh Park. Competing against the best in the league, the girls’ team finished a respectable 4th place, while the boys’ team followed closely behind, securing 5th.
The girls were led by standout performances from Sophia Metcalf and Kennedy Walker, both earning Second Team NLL honors. Metcalf crossed the 5000-meter course in 20:39, securing 10th place, with Walker right on her heels at 20:42, finishing 13th. Ari Hinojosa-Williams came in next for the Little Giants, clocking in at 22:17. Malaya Hughes and Kalaini Long rounded out the scoring for the girls, finishing nearly together with times of 22:30 and 22:31, respectively.
On the boys’ side, Daniel “Boogie” Sanchez led the charge, finishing 15th overall with a time of 17:52. Aidan Weber followed with a solid time of 18:52, just ahead of Andrew Tooman, who crossed the line at 18:55. Rounding out the scoring were Colin Rich and LJ Gabel, both finishing with identical times of 18:58, placing 29th and 30th.
The Little Giants’ performance at the NLL Championships highlighted their hard work and determination throughout the season, with both teams showing depth and resilience in a competitive field.
