Last evening, the Lady Giants volleyball team traveled to Westerville South High School to face Dublin Scioto, the #6 ranked team in the state, in a high-stakes matchup that kept fans on the edge of their seats. From the very first serve, the Lady Giants brought an unmatched level of intensity and determination, jumping out to an early lead and setting the tone for an unforgettable night of competition.

In the first set, seniors Lyndi Wolf, Kilee Kidd, and Brey Biller established a dominant presence at the net, helping Fremont edge past the Irish in a closely contested 25-22 set. The momentum, however, shifted in the second set, as the Lady Irish regrouped, capitalizing on a few unforced errors and mishits from the Lady Giants. Dublin Scioto controlled the tempo and took the set 17-25.

The energy from more than 40+ Fremont students who made the trip played a crucial role in the third set, helping the Lady Giants stay focused and fired up. Thanks to the impeccable passing from Durnwald, Baacke, and Smith in the back row, senior setter Sydney Weickert flawlessly ran the offense, guiding the team to a strong 25-18 win in the third set.

The fourth and final set was a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging rallies and points in a tight back-and-forth battle. Late in the set, the Lady Giants managed to carve out a slim four-point lead, putting them within reach of victory. On match point, the team looked to senior Rylann Fox, whose powerful shot ricocheted off a Scioto blocker and landed decisively on the Irish side of the court, sealing the win and sending the Lady Giants to the Elite 8.

The Lady Giants will now take on Anthony Wayne, with a chance to advance to the OHSAA State Tournament on the line. The match is scheduled for this Saturday at 2:00 PM, again at Westerville South High School. Both Fremont Ross and Anthony Wayne have submitted a request to consider an alternate venue, so stay tuned for any updates on location.

The Lady Giants continue to showcase their resilience and determination, making Fremont proud as they pursue a spot in the state tournament. Go Giants!
