The Fremont Ross Lady Giants faced a tough matchup on Tuesday night, falling to the Findlay Trojans 34-44 in a game that highlighted both their strengths and areas for improvement. The loss brings the Lady Giants to an even 6-6 on the season, as they continue their pursuit of another Northern Lakes League (NLL) championship.
From the opening tip, the Findlay defenders applied relentless pressure, disrupting Fremont Ross’s offensive rhythm and forcing numerous turnovers. The Trojans capitalized on these mistakes, converting them into easy transition baskets that ultimately proved to be the difference in the game. Despite these struggles, the Lady Giants showed flashes of brilliance, particularly in the second and third quarters when they managed to close the gap and keep the game competitive.
Offensively, Ava Jones and Lyndi Cahill led the charge for Fremont Ross, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively. Their efforts kept the Lady Giants within striking distance, but the team as a whole struggled to find consistency against Findlay’s aggressive defensive scheme.
“We’ve got to do a better job handling pressure and taking care of the basketball,” said Head Coach Juan Vela. “Findlay’s defense was tough, but these are the types of challenges that make us better as a team.”
The Lady Giants will look to bounce back on Thursday when they host conference opponent Bowling Green. With the Bobcats coming to town, Fremont Ross will need to regroup quickly and focus on minimizing turnovers while maximizing their scoring opportunities.
The quest for another NLL championship is still within reach, but the Lady Giants know they’ll need to cage the Bobcats to keep their championship hopes alive. JV tip-off is set for 5:30 PM with varsity to follow. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they aim to get back on track.
