The Fremont Ross Lady Giants basketball team faced a tough challenge on Saturday morning, falling to Magnificat 66-20 in a game where they struggled to find their offensive rhythm from start to finish.
Whether it was the effects of an early morning start or the longer-than-usual bus ride, the Lady Giants appeared sluggish from the opening tip. Magnificat, a disciplined and well-rounded team, took full advantage, applying defensive pressure that disrupted Ross’s offensive flow.
Ava Jones was the lone bright spot for the Lady Giants, leading the team with 11 points. However, consistent scoring opportunities were hard to come by as Magnificat controlled the pace and tempo throughout.
Despite the setback, the Lady Giants remain in control of their destiny in the Northern Lakes League. They will look to regroup and bounce back on Thursday when they host Southview in a pivotal matchup. A victory would secure at least a share of the NLL title, giving them extra motivation to put Saturday’s performance behind them and refocus on their championship aspirations.
