FREMONT – Despite outhitting their opponent, the Fremont Ross Little Giants were unable to overcome defensive miscues, falling to Perkins in their season opener. Costly errors plagued the Little Giants, who recorded six hits on the evening but struggled to capitalize offensively.
After focusing heavily on hitting throughout the offseason and preseason, Fremont Ross showed significant improvement at the plate. Junior first baseman JT Myers led the offensive charge, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Max Durnwald, Will Eastham, Braylen Garza, and Cade Reineck each added a hit, contributing to the Little Giants’ offensive effort.
On the mound, senior Braylon Schneider, a Kent State commit, delivered a strong performance. He struck out nine batters over four innings, allowing three hits and three unearned runs. Zavior Esquivel provided solid relief, pitching two innings with two strikeouts while surrendering two hits and one unearned run.
Despite the loss, the Little Giants remain optimistic as they return to action this evening, hosting Norwalk. With continued offensive production and a focus on tightening up their defense, they look to bounce back and secure their first win of the season.
