The Fremont Ross boys and girls track & field teams opened their 2025 season with an impressive performance at the Polar Bear Relays hosted by Margaretta High School this past weekend. Facing stiff competition in an 11-team field, the Little Giants made a strong opening statement.
The boys team brought home a share of the championship, tying for first place, while the girls team claimed a strong third-place finish.
Girls Team Highlights:
The Lady Little Giants showcased depth and determination throughout the meet.
Hurdle Relay Victory: Jaiden Long, Tearyn Nelson, Aniya McNeal, and Danika Denman dominated the field to take first place in the girls hurdle relay.
Runner-Up Relays:
The 4×200 meter relay team of Braxtyn Nelson, Lexi Nelson, Ashtyn Marsee, and Malise Lee-Garrett raced to a second-place finish.
In the 4×800, the quartet of Sophia Metcalf, Ella Lozano, Ari Hinojosa-Williams, and Mia Durnwald earned silver as well.
The 4×400 meter relay team, composed of Ashtyn Marsee, Braxtyn Jordan, Mia Durnwald, and Malise Lee-Garrett, rounded out a strong relay showing with another second-place finish.
Boys Team Highlights:
The boys team turned in dominant performances across the board.
Discus Relay Champions: Talon Brown, Peyton Heschsel, and Jayden Slater combined to win the boys discus relay.
Sweep of Sprint Relays:
The 4×200 meter team of Ty Brown, Gabe Wensinger, Stephen Reiter, and Jadrian Brown raced to a first-place finish.
The 4×100 team of Lazerick Brown, Ty Brown, Stephen Reiter, and Jadrian Brown also took top honors.
The 4×400 meter squad of Gabe Wensinger, Bryce Shirts, Boogie Sanchez, and Jadrian Brown completed the sweep in dramatic fashion.
Distance Relay Domination: Adrian Ontiveros, Bruce Shirts, Bentley Lopez, and Boogie Sanchez powered through the competition to win the 4×800 meter relay.
Fremont Ross has set the tone for what promises to be an exciting and competitive season. With a mix of veteran leadership and rising talent, both teams are poised to continue building momentum as they head into the heart of the spring schedule.
