Carey, OH — The Fremont Ross Little Giant baseball team hit the road Thursday night and returned home with a statement win, shutting out Carey 7-0 in a non-conference matchup.

Senior right-hander Karson Kayden was dominant on the mound, tossing a complete game shutout and striking out seven Blue Devils in the process. Kayden kept Carey’s bats quiet all evening, mixing location and velocity to keep hitters off balance and in check.

Offensively, the Little Giants backed their pitcher with a steady attack, tallying 10 hits on the night. Robert Rich led the charge at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 and driving in two runs. AJ Wallace added a spark of his own with two hits and a team-high three RBIs, helping Ross pull away early and maintain control throughout the contest.

First-year head coach Derek Thiessen praised his team’s all-around effort. “This was a complete team win,” Thiessen said. “Karson was excellent on the mound, and our guys at the plate came through in key moments. We’re hoping this kind of performance builds momentum and confidence as we move forward.”

With the win, Fremont Ross improves to 3-3 on the season. The Little Giants look to stay in the win column as they return home tonight to host Toledo Start. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. at the Alumni Fields.
